Rich Theory

The Sense of Value

The following is a collection of articles that I penned a few years back with the tongue in cheek name "Crass Commercial." The reason for the tongue in cheek name was that I was embroiled in a debate over the morality of putting ads on web sites (affiliate marketing). There also were flaming "culture-war" style articles about music sharing sites that violated copyright laws.

My belief, then and now, is that content creators should have an avenue of payment for their work.

The view of those advocating free distribution of content, and calling for a commerce free internet are premised on the idea that money is a corrupting influence. My view is that money is simply a reflection of our values.

It is my opinion that the world would be better to have an internet flush with prosperity than one where the content providers languished.

While the name of the articles implied that the motivation for the work was simply a desire to make a living doing web development. The actual foundation of the work was the painstaking research that I present in a tome called Rich Theory.

Rich Theory is a dense work about the foundations of mathematics. The thesis of Rich Theory is that the classical approach to mathematics using Aristotle's Analytics provides a richer view of math than the modern approach to the subject based on Transfinite Theory and the Material Dialectics.

The Crass Commercial set of articles simply applied the thinking behind rich theory to economics.
